Whether you are a complete beginner or already a confident road cyclist, our team of friendly, experienced instructors will provide you with all the training and support you need to get the most out of your cycling. Road Skills sessions

Our short road skills sessions are designed for people who have borrowed a bike under the CycleBoost loan scheme. The session is designed to give you the skills to start using your bike on the road. For people looking to purchase their loan bike, you must have attended one of these sessions or taken one of the courses listed below during the time you have your bike. Bikes are available for this course.

Learn to ride

Find your balance and learn the basic skills in a safe environment. You’ll learn how to start and stop safely and how to steer your bike.

Bikes are provided for these sessions.

Cycle Confidence

Getting the basics down is one thing, but next its time to build up your confidence and refine those skills so you feel a rounded and competent cyclist ready to tackle the next step.

Cycling confidence courses are held in parks around the city so you can build your confidence in a distraction-free environment. Bikes are provided.

Road Confidence 1

If you are happy with your bike handling skills, its time to tackle the roads. This course introduces riders to riding on quiet roads, and shows you the basic roadcraft you need to master to negotiate lightly trafficked streets.

Bikes are available for this course although you are encouraged to bring your own.

Road Confidence 2

Our second Road confidence course builds on the knowledge gained in the previous course and put it all together so you can navigate quiet routes around the local area, including using different types of cycle path where appropriate.

City Centre Cycling

Time to tackle the city centre and highly trafficked routes. We will show you how to make your way through all the busy junctions of the city, including multi-lane roundabouts and traffic lights, and dual carriageways.

Participants need to bring their own bikes for this course.

Venues: Sheffield city centre


Practice in the Park

Just need more practice before thinking abut the next step? Our Practice in the Park sessions are designed for you. Its a chance to explore the park by bike and carry on gaining your cycling confidence. There are trainers on hand but this is really an untaught session. You need to have completed a Cycle Confidence course to book onto a practice session. All bikes are provided.
